Around twenty minutes for most courses. STUDIO, the flagship six week programme, runs thirty to forty minutes a session, four sessions a week. Every session is written out in full, with nothing left to guess.

A mat is the only requirement for every course. Some sessions offer optional prop work, a band, ring, ball or light weights, and each workbook includes simple household alternatives, filled water bottles in place of weights, a rolled towel in place of the ball. Nothing needs to be bought.

If you are new to Pilates, begin with THE RITUAL: 21 Day Foundations, it was written for exactly that. If you prefer something gentler still, SOFT eases you in through stretch and mobility. Each course page states plainly who it serves and who it does not.
